Community Outreach Meetings

Over the summer months, City staff will be presenting information to community groups about the General Plan Update through a series of community outreach meetings. The purpose of these presentations is to inform the public about the General Plan Update and to solicit ideas and input regarding Vacaville’s future. This page describes upcoming and past community outreach meetings. Please check this website often to find out about upcoming meetings. If you would like the City to present information to your community group, please contact Tyra Hays, General Plan Update Project Manager,  at (707) 449-5140 or thays@cityofvacaville.com. Please note that the City is available to present to community groups, such as civic groups, church groups, neighborhood associations, and parent teacher associations, however the City is not able to give presentations to individuals or in people’s homes.

Past Meetings

August 27, 2011, 9 am – Open House
City Staff will host an Open House, or informal meeting, where members of the public can ask questions and/or make comments regarding anything related to the General Plan Update on Saturday, August 27, 2011. We will use the input we hear at the Open House to ensure future General Plan Update Steering Committee and City Council meetings address community concerns and desires. We will show you how to review the land use alternatives evaluation so you can help shape the final plan. The Open House will start at 9:00 a.m. at the McBride Senior Center located at 91 Town Square Place.

August 16, 2011, 6 pm – Community Outreach Meeting
As part of the City’s ongoing community outreach efforts, the City gave a presentation at Crossroads Christian Church, located at 190 Butcher Road, on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at 6pm. This meeting provided a general overview of the General Plan Update process, and provided the public an opportunity to ask questions and voice their opinions as to which topics and/or issues they would like the City to consider as part of the General Plan Update. Following the presentation, there was time for a question and answer session.

June 29, 2011, 6 pm – Solano Irrigation District Study Session
The City of Vacaville held a General Plan Update study session with the Solano Irrigation District Board of Directors on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 6 pm. This meeting was held at the Solano Irrigation District Office, located at 810 Vaca Valley Parkway in the Berryessa Room (located on the second floor). Topics of discussion included, but were not be limited to: the General Plan Update process; the history of the City’s Urban Growth Boundary; Agricultural Buffers; and the pending Brighton Landing development application. The study session was open to the public.

July 6, 2011, 7 pm – City of Vacaville Community Services Commission
A General Plan Update presentation was given to the City’s Community Services Commission on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 7 pm in the City Council Chambers, located at 650 Merchant Street. The Community Services Commission consists of seven members appointed by the City Council to make recommendations on issues involving parks, recreation, open space, public right-of-way beautification projects, and community services programs. Topics of discussion at this meeting included, but was not be limited to, the General Plan Update process and how the Community Services Commission can participate in the creation of General Plan goals and policies related to parks, recreation, and open space.
