Steering Committee Meetings
The City Council has appointed a nine member Steering Committee to help provide guidance throughout the General Plan Update process. These meetings are open to the public. All Steering Committee meetings will be aired on Comcast Channel 26 and will be made available for viewing on this site. We encourage your participation throughout the General Plan Update process. If you are unable to attend the meeting, please feel free to leave a comment, call us at 449-5140, or write the Planning Division at 650 Merchant Street, Vacaville, CA 95688.

General Plan Update Steering Committee Meeting #14 was held on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at the City Council Chambers at Vacaville City Hall. At this meeting, the Steering Committee continued the discussion of creating a “preferred land use alternative,” a map showing their recommended vision for future development and conservation in Vacaville. This meeting focused on the Northeast Growth Area. However, the Steering Committee could discuss any of the growth or focus areas during any of the meetings to develop the preferred land use alternative.

General Plan Update Steering Committee Meeting #11 was held on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at the Travis Credit Union Headquarters Building located at One Travis Way. This meeting was held as a joint Community Workshop/Steering Committee Meeting. The Steering Committee and the public were asked to give input on the different types of development evaluated in the Land Use Alternatives Workbook and to create a “preferred land use alternative” that illustrates their vision for the future of Vacaville.

General Plan Update Steering Committee Meeting #10 was held on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at the City Council Chambers at Vacaville City Hall. At this meeting, the Steering Committee discussed select Citywide Focus Areas and formulated a recommended “Preferred Land Use Alternative” for these properties. The Preferred Land Use Alternative is a map showing the Steering Committee’s recommended vision for future development and conservation in Vacaville.

General Plan Update Steering Committee Meeting #7 – Land Use Alternatives Part 1 (Citywide Alternatives) and General Plan EIR Scoping Session
Steering Committee Meeting #7 was held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Vacaville City Hall. At this meeting, the Steering Committee reviewed the draft land use alternatives for targeted areas throughout the city, except for the growth areas, which will be reviewed at a separate meeting on April 14, 2011. In addition, this meeting included a scoping session for the General Plan Environmental Impact Report (EIR).

General Plan Update Steering Committee Meeting #6 – Preliminary Growth Areas Land Use Alternatives
Steering Committee Meeting #6 was held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2011, in the City Council chambers at Vacaville City Hall. At this meeting, the Steering Committee discussed potential impacts related to the preliminary land use alternatives created for the growth areas located on the eastern edge of Vacaville. The Steering Committee provided additional direction to staff regarding further development of these alternatives. After this meeting, the draft land use alternatives will be prepared and made available for public input at the subsequent Steering Committee meeting.

General Plan Update Steering Committee Meeting #3 – Introduction to Potential Land Use Alternatives Areas
The third Steering Committee meeting was held on Monday, October 25, 2010 at the City Council Chambers in Vacaville City Hall at 6:00 p.m. At this meeting, the Steering Committee discussed the East of Leisure Town Road and Northeast areas, which are delineated
here (1.8 MB PDF). These areas will be considered during the land use alternatives process. In addition, the Steering Committee discussed other areas in the city that should be considered during the land use alternatives process. As part of this discussion, the Steering Committee considered the input that was provided at workshops with property owners and residents of the Locke Paddon, East of Leisure Town Road, and Northeast areas, the summaries of which are available here (0.1 MB PDF).

General Plan Update Steering Committee Meeting #1 – Project Introduction
The first General Plan Update Steering Committee Meeting was held Monday, August 9th. The first meeting of the Steering Committee was an informational meeting to introduce Steering Committee members to the project and consultant team, discuss the role of the Committee in the General Plan Update, Climate Action Plan, and EIR, review the project schedule, and discuss goals and expectations for the process. We also heard initial comments from the public and committee members on key issues and concerns for the General Plan Update and EIR. Materials from the meeting are available for download below.
